The title was my attempt at creativeness........... sing it to the tune of Raindrops keep falling on my head.... Randomness keeps falling on my head. I know it's corny........
Dwayne has decided that he may want to switch his loyalty from Ole Miss to MS State like the smart mama in his family. He says he just doesn't think he wants to be a black bear. And, he'd like a cow bell. That's the spirit!
Savell starts basketball this week. I do love some basketball!
We traveled to Decatur, MS today to celebrate Brookie's great aunt's 90th birthday. It was a sweet party given by her church. Afterwards, we traveled down the road a piece to the Salem Baptist Church cemetery to explore. Before you think we are morbid, cemeteries are actually interesting to me. There are many Duetts buried there dating back to the 1800s. I took some pictures to upload to the Duett Family Tree on Ancestry.com. One thing that always gets me at old cemeteries is the enormous amount of baby graves. There were 10 babies in one family plot that I assume were born to the same couple in the 1920s. Some of them lived only a day, perhaps born dead, and some only lived 1 - 2 years. Hard times people......... we can't even imagine! We should be so thankful to be living in the time period we are in! Cemeteries are history books in a way. If you look back in history, many diseases that killed people in the 1920s have been eradicated today by a simple shot. There was an article in the
Mississippi Magazine some months back that talked about what various symbols on old tombstones mean. For instance, a star represented a certain thing, wheat another, a cross, etc. One of the Duett Family markers had a hand pointing to heaven on it. That was neat to me, reminded me of the church steeple at Port Gibson. If you've never seen it, make a road trip to Port Gibson, MS.

Though my husband has enjoyed the nonstop work, we really do need some rain!!!! Please Lord, send some!
