Today, on the way to Indianola, we made a quick ride through the Wister Gardens Scarecrow Extravaganza. This event is held annually at Wister Gardens in Belzoni. Lynn Howard, caretaker of Wister Gardens, has been nothing short of AWESOME since taking over as caretaker of Wister Gardens several years ago. The scarecrow contest is just one of the events that she has implemented since she began working at Wister Gardens. The gardens are really beautiful and everyone should try to visit Wister Gardens if they are ever in Belzoni. I took a few snaps today of the scarecrows. Businesses, schools, and individuals enter the scarecrow contest. One of my favorites this year was the Sonny and Cher scarecrows which were built by Central Insurers of Belzoni. Also, Susan Outlaw Whitfield, a close friend of mine, made a scene which included both of her boys, Lije and Law. I am posting a picture of the Sonny and Cher scarecrows getting pulled over by the police.
Scarecrows are adorable. They don't scream when you hit them in the faces with baseball bats and other blunt objects.
